Welcome to our homepage.  We hope that you find our website easy to navigate and informative.  We are so proud of our staff and students and want to share their moments with you as they are "IN THE SPOTLIGHT". 


Palacios ISD believes all students can learn given appropriate time, instruction and resources. We teach and have high expectations for all students. ATTENTION!  DRUG TESTING ORIENTATION

Students in 7th-12th grades - A Drug testing Orientation is scheduled for July 14th at 6:30 in the high school cafeteria.  Drug testing consent forms will be passed out so they can be completed and signed by both the parent and student and returned as you leave the orientation.  An explanation of the drug testing procedure will be given at this time. This discussion will give anyone an opportunity to ask questions about the testing process. During this meeting, the scheduled no cost test dates will be announced.  It is important that you are tested during the scheduled test dates, so that you are eligible to participate when school activities begin.

The orientation is for ALL students planning to participate in extra-curricular activities and for ALL students that drive to school.  Students may not practice or participate without being tested. Students will not be tested if the consent form is not filled out completely.

Testing dates will be:
July 21st for girls and July 22nd for boys

8:00 a.m. Freshmen; 9:00 a.m. Sophomores;
10:00 a.m. Juniors; 11:00 a.m. Seniors;
12:00 p.m. LUNCH; 1:00 p.m. 8th ; 2:00 p.m. 7th

If you are unable to make the initial testing dates you may to go to the company that does our testing and have one done. You must first contact Scott Kurtz at (361)972-3368 so a visit can be set up.

Senior Athletic Pass - If you are a resident of Palacios ISD and age 65 or older you are entitled to a Senior Athletic Pass. This pass will allow one general admission seat to attend home athletic events. To receive your pass you must bring proof of age and residency to the Administration Office at 1209 Twelfth Street between the hours of 8:00-4:00, Monday through Friday.

Palacios Independent School District adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for Maintenance and Operations than last year's tax rate.  The tax rate will raise taxes for Maintenance and Operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $20.00. “However, the district’s overall tax rate is lower than last year’s overall tax rate. The taxes on a $100,000 home will be reduced overall by approximately $70.”

Summer Hours:  Beginning June 8th and ending July 30th the Administration Office, Tax Office and Campus Principal Offices will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. All offices and campuses will be closed on Fridays.

june-24.gifCentral Elementary held a summer school parent open house this week.  Parents were invited to join the students for juice and cookies and to view the work they have completed to this point.  Work was displayed in the hallways and in the classroom. Students are working hard this summer to keep up skills learned during the school year and to help them in passing the TAKS test which will be given the week of June 29th at East Side and Central.
