Hello, this is Amy Marroquin, Interim Principal of East Side Intermediate. On Thursday this week, East Side will be conducting a “lock down” drill in the event of an intruder or other emergency. During the drill, a sign will be posted on the door. All access doors to our campus will be locked and no one will be given access to the building until the completion of the exercise. The drill should last no more than 20-25 minutes. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call East Side at 361-972-2016.

Good evening. This is Buddy Kelley, principal of Central Elementary. Tomorrow morning, Thursday November 12, Central Elementary will be conducting a “Lock Down” drill. This is practiced in order for both our teachers and our students to know what should be done in a real emergency where our students need to lock down in their classrooms. We will be conduction this drill on the morning of the 12th. While the drill is in progress the front doors of the school will be locked and no one will be allowed to enter or exit the building. Good Evening, This is Mr. Figirova, the assistant principal for Palacios Junior High. This call is to inform you that tomorrow, both the Junior High and High School will be conducting a practice lock down drill. During this time no students will be allowed to be picked up or allowed to make phone calls. The drill will conducted from 10:00 am until 10:30 am. Again we want to stress that this is a drill and is for the purpose of making sure are students know what to do in the event of a real emergency. Thank you and good night.

This is Mr. Figirova the assistant principal of Palacios Jr High. We are calling you today to inform you of the closure of highway 35 between Port Lavaca and Tivoli. If you plan on attending the junior high football game in Aransas Pass you will need to detour your route and take 87 to Victoria and then take 77 south to 239. Once on 239 you will head southeast to Tivoli. From there you will be able to get back on 35 south to Aransas Pass. The stretch of road that is closed will remain closed until tomorrow.

Good Evening, This is Mr. Figirova at Palacios Jr. High School. We would like to thank all those who bought and sold tickets to our fall dinner. Please do not forget to pick up your plates tomorrow afternoon between 4 & 6 pm. We are also asking students to bring individually wrapped desserts to the JH office by 4 pm for the dessert table at the dinner. Students who bring desserts will be awarded a district dress code coupon to be used at a time to be announced. Football ribbons will also be for sale for $2 each at our dinner. Our first home Jr. High football game against Danbury will start at 4:30 pm. We hope you can come and spend the evening @ Palacios Jr. High enjoying your meal and JH football.

Good evening, this is Mr. Figirova at the Jr. High School……Next Thursday, September 17, will be our Jr. High Fall fundraiser dinner. Mustang Creek BBQ will prepare our meal which consist of ½ chicken, buttered potatoes and green beans w/all the trimmings. All students have been given three tickets to sell. Please check with your student for these. All tickets and/or money is due back to the office no later than Monday. Also, next Thursday will be our first home JH football game against Danbury. We hope that you can support our dinner and also our football teams next Thursday. If you have any questions, please call the school at 972-2417.

Pool Dates and Water Aerobics -The PISD swimming pool will be open for the Labor Day weekend at the following times: Saturday, September 5th from 2:00 to 6:30pm Sunday, September 6th from 2:00 to 6:30pm Monday, September 7th from 2:00 to 6:30pm The cost is $3.00 per day. Summer passes are invalid for these days. Water Aerobics will be held Monday – Thursday from 5:30pm – 6:30 p.m. at the pool, excluding Labor Day, weather permitting, and with sufficient number of participants. The fee is $3.00 per session. Good evening, this is Carolyn Kubecka, Director of Communications. Palacios ISD has employed Executive Search Services to search for a new superintendent. A pair of community involvement meetings will be held Thursday, August 20th at 12-noon in the PISD Board Room followed by an evening session at 7:00 p.m. at the Palacios High School Library. The board encourages members of the community to share their thoughts and insights. For those unable to attend either meeting, an online survey is available on the PISD website, www.palaciosisd.org.
