STAFF COVID Protocol
-
Staff who have COVID
- If symptomatic, individuals must quarantine for 5 days after the onset of symptoms. After 5 days, if the staff member is fever free* and symptoms have improved, they may return to work.
*Fever free is defined as no fever without the use of suppressors for at least 24 hours.
-
Asymptomatic individuals must quarantine for 5 days from the day of their positive test.
Close Contact Individuals
Individuals who are found to be in close contact must do one of the following:-
Quarantine for 5 days and monitor for symptoms. Any symptom manifestation during this 5 day period will require a test.
-
Attend school and test every other day with our PISD staff at Central Elementary. After 5 days, they may return to work without additional testing. (Please refer to the testing information I sent earlier this semester)
Remember, individuals who test positive for COVID may receive up to an additional 5 days of leave from the district. This is a one-time benefit and does not “reset” with each confirmed case of COVID, regardless of the strain.
As a reminder, vaccinations and booster shots are available at the Palacios Community Medical Clinic. They provide vaccinations on Thursday and Friday between 8am - Noon and 1pm - 4pm.
If you have any questions about quarantine length, return dates, COVID leave days, testing, or close contact, please contact Dr. Brian Williams @ 361-972-5491 Ext. 1034 or email brianw@palaciosisd.org.
