Board of Trustees
The Board is composed of seven officials elected for three-year terms. They generally meet the 2nd Monday of each month.
Open session begins at 6:30 p.m. and closed session begins immediately after open session concludes, if needed, in the Palacios Independent School District Board Room located at 1209 Twelfth Street.
- If you wish to submit comments that may be read publicly during the board meeting:
- Complete a comment card and present it to the superintendent secretary prior to 6:30pm on the day of the meeting. Comment cards are located at the administration building.
- Email firstname.lastname@example.org. The email will be open two hours before the scheduled meeting and will close 15 minutes before the meeting begins.
- Comments must be no longer than three minutes when read. You are asked to refrain from sharing personal information about your student, or mentioning specific PISD staff members by name. Comments of a similar nature may be consolidated into one representative comment.
Video/Audio Conferencing Notice: Pursuant to the Governor Abbott’s Temporary Suspension of Open Meetings Laws issued on March 16, 2020, this meeting may be conducted via video conference. If it is, the meeting will be audible to the Board and public and allow for two-way communication. The Board President, presiding officer or trustees may or may not be physically present at one location but a quorum will be required for the meeting on the video conference. The Board makes major decisions regarding school policy, curriculum, and expenditures, but it is limited by law and rules set by the State Board of Education. Other duties consist of adopting goals and objectives for the district, reviewing and acting on policies, adopting an annual budget, setting the tax rate, electing school personnel as recommended by the superintendent, and reporting to the public about the District's progress.
