School Health Advisory Council (SHAC)


A School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is a group appointed by the school district to serve at the district level. Members of the SHAC come from different areas of the community and from within the school district. The majority of members must be parents who are not employed by the district.

In accordance with Texas Education Code 28.004 and BDF (LEGAL), the district shall appoint at least five members to the Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC). A majority of the members must be parents of students enrolled in the district and who are not employed by the district. The Board must appoint at least 1 member (non-district employee) as the chair. Listed below are parents (non-district employees), community/business members, and district employees to be recommended to the Board for approval to participate as SHAC members for 2025-2026.
